Even though I have always championed European entrepreneurship (as an individual and in my capacity as the ex-president of YES for Europe, as well as in numerous other roles and occasions), as a startup entrepreneur and investor in the tech industry, I can’t help but be inspired by the history, the achievements and the vibrancy of the US startup scene.
I’ve also have a strong affection towards Crete, the place where I’ve studied Computer Science and founded my first startup business in.
The above combined, as well as StartTech portfolio’s continued expansion into the US market, makes the upcoming conference organized by the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and titled “Applied Research and Technology in an international product: Greek startups in the USA” especially endearing to me.
Even more so, since I will be one of the keynote speakers, sharing my experiences (both good and bad) in doing R&D in Crete for software solutions that are now a success in both the US and internationally.
The one-day event is scheduled for this Monday, April 25th, the two other keynote speakers are Bryan Larson, the US Embassy’s commercial attaché to Greece, and Vassilis Nikolopoulos, the CEO of Intelen Inc.
The event starts at 19:00, at the Kastelaki hall (Koronaiou 9, Herakleion), and attendance if free of charge — no registration required.
