Are we on a roll!
Less than a month ago, we were celebrating the Elorus team’s award at (National Banks) #FinTech hackathon.
Just last week, our in-house graphic design and UI expert, Ioannis Belegrinis, won the Bronze Award in the “Identity / Brand Logo” category at the prestigious European Design Awards for his work for Blueline, one of our portfolio companies.
And now, I’m extremely proud to announce that Starttech Ventures has been awarded the prize for the Best Exit in Europe in 2015 for an angel-invested company — for the AbZorba Games acquisition by the NOVOMATIC Group.
I’m not usually one to boast, but I really believe that this trifecta is proof of both our hard work and of the success of our “entrepreneurial ecosystem” approach to incubation and investing.
EBAN’s own reasoning for awarding Starttech goes beyond our huge success with AbZorba Games, also mentioning our overall progress with companies like Epignosis, as well as our promising latest investments:
Starttech Ventures exited from AbZorba Games to Novomatic, making a 9.3x return on capital invested. Their portfolio company Epignosis scaled up more than 100% in revenues for the third consecutive year. Their SaaS product TalentLMS ranked No.1 in the World by GetRank for Q3/2015 in Cloud LMS market.
Over the year they have made six new investments, three of which were international (Israel, Russia, USA) and four follow-on investments as well as co-founding HeBAN to champion the development of early stage investments market in Greece.
EBAN is excited to give this award to our Greek members proving that the country is able to support entrepreneurship and successful early stage investing even in tougher times.
I would like to dedicate this award to to my hard working colleagues at StartTech Ventures, our portfolio companies’ teams, HeBAN and of course to the AbZorba Games co-founders — Manos and Andrew!
Last but not least, it’s a great opportunity to reconfirm our commitment in helping create scalable tech companies out of Greek startups, and enabling them to successfully compete at the Global market.
Here’s to our next 1000 exits, and here’s to Greek entrepreneurship!
