Organized by the University of Nicosia, “Decentralized 2019: Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies” is taking place at the Divani Caravel Hotel, in our fair Greek capital. You can get your tickets here.
The event is taking place for the 3rd consecutive year, and it’s bigger than ever this time round. It offers a great opportunity for knowledge and exchanging of ideas. That’s about technology developments and trends on this burning and revolutionary FinTech area.
‘Decentralized 2019: Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies’: Look who’s talking
As you would expect, prominent speakers from all over the world will be there, to give their insights on all the latest applications of blockchain & cryptocurrencies technology. Among them are:
- W. Scott Stornetta, co-founder of blockchain technology
- Adam Back, inventor of hashcash that has been used in Bitcoin mining
Some specifics about this year’s conference
Over a 100 guest speakers will be there, to give their views in workshops and panel discussions. All of them are leading professionals, entrepreneurs, and scientists from Greece and more than 50 countries, the world over. But don’t be put off or intimidated by that. This conference is all-inclusive. It’s for corporate members, entrepreneurs, researchers, academics, students; and actually anyone interested in blockchain & cryptocurrencies technology. There will also be some parallel training sessions. These will be going on for the uninitiated, as well as for the more advanced, in terms of knowledge around the subject.
Organizing Committee
This year, the organizational aspect is a global affair, with academics from the University of Nicosia joining forces with prominent universities from Denmark, Portugal, Canada, and Taiwan.
One of them, George Giaglis, the General Director of “The Institute For the Future” at the University of Nicosia, and other leading members of the Organizing Committee, will be there to talk about what’s around the corner for Blockchain technology; and, of course, the decentralized future that is coming our way.
Just for you, our readers, we also spoke with George; to get a sneak peek on what to expect at this this year’s conference. Word has it, the number of attendees is expected to blitz last year’s number of 1,200 people.
George says:
“We are all very excited to organise Decentralized for third year in a row. The 2019 edition features our best speakers yet (and more than 100 of them for that matter). As well as two hands-on pre-conference workshops, co-organised with Hyperledger and Corda (R3). Coupled with three parallel tracks, a large exhibition space and unmatched networking opportunities, I’m sure this will be Europe’s best crypto & blockchain conference for this year.
As we head towards more institutional-grade, regulated and diverse applications of the underlying technologies, I’m also looking forward to learning from our international speakers what’s around the corner in this highly disruptive field.”
The agenda
No need to take up vital reading space with the whole agenda. A top-level view looks like this:
Business & Technology Track
Two full days with keynotes from guest speakers, on things like the depth of business application, the financial aspects and regulative approaches of blockchain & cryptocurrencies technology. Plus, the leading edge of technology of software solutions and applications that are already implemented; or forthcoming.
Academic Track
All about what’s already happening in Blockchain research. Scientific research papers and keynote presentations from prominent academics in this space.
And there’s more
There are two parallel workshops going on, which aim to further enhance what truly looks like a state-of-the-art conference experience this year. Both of them will take place during the first day. That’s on Wednesday, 30th of October.
